Frequently Asked Questions

Can I speak to former clients and see your previous work?

We can provided contact details for many previous clients so you can contact them. It is obviously up to the previous client whether they decide to allow a site visit to see the physical work.

Can you provided trade references?

Yes, we are able to provide multiple trade references in order to check our financial stability and credit rating.

Do you give a written estimate or quotations?
We provide both depending on the work undertaken.
Where the work can easily be quantified as there are very few variables,  i.e. A new extension, a quote will be provided. If the work is more of an unknown, where there are too many variables and unknowns, and estimate will be given.
Are you VAT registered?

Yes, the current thresh hold is £85,000 turn over per year. A quality building company would find it difficult to stay below this.

Do you have insurance cover?

We are fully covered by the NFU for the work we undertake. All documents are available on request.

Do you expect a deposit?

Generally no, one situation may be that an expensive and specific material may need ordering before work starts.

How do you expect me to pay?
When a job has been quoted the invoice will be raised on completion and the invoice due 7 days after issue. If the quoted work takes longer than two weeks an interim invoice will be raised after two weeks.
For estimated works running on an hourly basis, invoices are raised every two weeks with a break down of materials and labour.
How do you deal with changes of specification?

When a customer would like to change the specification of the work the specifics will need to be written in an email and a cost decided prior to the changes being made.

Do you have all the necessary trades and skills in house or do you hire casual labour and sub-contractors?

We have the skills and trades in house for all general building. We do use sub-contractors for the more specialist and qualified work such as plumbing and electrics. We have been using the same contractors for over ten years as we know and trust them. All sub-contractors have their own qualifications and insurances.
